Chantel Bio

I am from Toronto, Ontario Canada (yes, born & raised). The number 1 question that you are probably asking yourself is “Does she speak French?” Well, yes, I do! I was in a French Immersion program all throughout school, which meant that all my classes were in French except English of course. I relocated to Atlanta about 6 years ago and attended Georgia State University, culture shock anyone?…a university in the middle of downtown Atlanta will definitely weird anyone out…vagrants sleeping in the library, dorms 10 minutes away from the campus WOW. After getting a degree in Public Relations and Marketing I knew exactly what I wanted to do…SIKE….I love PR but the whole industry was weird to me since everyone I met was in public relations but their 9-5 job was selling shoes. Someone PLEASE teach these people what Public Relations consists of…Weird..I know! After doing some freelance work in PR, which I continue to do, I found Talent Zoo where I am the Senior Southeast Recruiter and I absolutely love it. Recruiting is something I knew nothing about before Talent Zoo, but now it is my home. Technorati Tags: , , , , , ,

Hello:

I am a graduate of Georgia State University also. I would like to say a couple of things to you regarding your comments concerning Georgia State University.

Georgia State University students probably have problems getting jobs becuase of the attitutde that you are showing on this blog. I have been to several universities and I can speak from expereince about the character defects in GSU students, most especially the business school.

First of all GSU students lack loyalty, they are willing to stab their school and their alums in the back at the drop of a hat. Most people realize that publicly insulting their school in a public forum especially a blog designed to tell people how to get a job is just not good sense. People reading the blog will hae a bad impression of the school and decide that GSU graduates are not worth hiring or even being around.

Second of all many GSU students lack exposure. Your comment regarding vagrants in the library reflects this. I don’t know if you visited other Universities during your college career but most universities offer an open door policy meaning anyone can have access to the knowledge contained in books and other resources at a library in the spirit of knowledge is free. This is the reason MIT has the Open Course Ware Project that makes notes, syllabi, and other materials related to courses at MIT free for anyone to access. So essentially libary access is something that most libaries make available to all.

Finally know that I think about it I think you are in the college of journalism but a lot of business majors take classes in ths school of journalism and I have found from my experience taking classes in the school of journalism and the school of business that at GSU these are very mean spirited, shallow colleges in the Univesrity. I have even heard rumours that they try to block other GSU graduates from getting jobs.

I visted your website and it is really nice.

Dear Anonymous,
Chantel commenting on culture shock is hardly the same thing as insulting her alma mater. Perhaps a second read would clear things up. Cheers!
