In the Heart of the City Pt. 2

Well its been a week and the Cowboys have been eliminated from the playoffs and I think Tony Romo, the NFC’s Pro Bowl new "Golden Boy", may still be crying himself to sleep every night. But to get back to what we were discussing, What does cause a cities ad market to boom and bust? There are several factors here. Stating the obvious, The first factor is the number of agencies a city has. The reigning Mecca for Advertising is New York City. Nothing has changed there and I don’t really see a huge movement happening anytime soon. Chicago will always have the major CPG agencies and accounts, San Francisco is making serious noise with a burst of interactive agencies opening, Los Angeles will always have their Hollywood and automotive accounts, and Atlanta will always have a nice mix of accounts with a little of everything. Other notable ad markets include Detroit and its automotive agencies of record, Miami can’t be ignored as Crispin continues to grow at such a remarkable pace, Dallas has an "Atlanta-esque" market with a nice mix of accounts and agencies, and Kansas City is hanging in there even after the loss of Wal-Mart. Which leads me to my next factor to watch for- the influx and outflow of accounts in a city. Next week…
