Keys To Resume Follow Up

So you know it’s at least there.  Your resume is in the proper hands to get you the that awesome position you have been daydreaming about at your current, dull, boring job.  So now what?!?!?  You just sit and wait?!?!?  Oh… sound brutal doesn’t it.  Here is some protocol call for resume follow up. 

Following up too quickly- Follow up too quickly can lead to you sounding too eager, waiting to long and the hiring manger is going to wondering "who is this"?  Most places recommend checking in if you haven’t heard anything in two weeks.  If it gets too much past two weeks, its a good chance your ship has sailed.

Best ways to follow up-  Follow up emails are great way to casually reemphasize your interest in a position that is not so intrusive to the hiring manger or recruiter.  Calls are okay too but don’t abuse the privilege (if you think you may be doing it, you are).

Keys points to communicate- Don’t sell your self short.  Mention your in-demand skills and what you would add to the organization.

Hang in there.  Tactful persistence is the key.

Thanks for the great post regarding resume followups. The problem is, though, what do I say to them who have my resume? Just tell ‘em that I’m making sure they have my package?

Also… I don’t want to be picky, not to mention that this is an old post, but there seems to be a lot of grammatical error on your post. Sorry, just had to say it.
