Salary Negotiation
Getting an offer is, in many cases, is a very long process. A lot of time and effort is spent on interviewing, deliberation, references, and getting the proper money for the position. So what do you do when you have interviewed for a dream position forth past 4 weeks and you get the offer and its 10K short. Well it’s no time to panic. Most hiring managers do have some pull on this and can get you 5 to 10% more with out it being a big deal. Sometimes it does take a corporate approval to move your salary up. Will the sub par salary be a deal breaker is really the question. Is the opportunity so good that you can take a pay cut for a little while for the light at the end of the tunnel? I have seen cases where the answer to this question is yes and I have seen examples where the answer is no. How far you want to take your salary demands is a personal decision that can lead to offers being resent. Use your good judgment along with your market value when making these decisions.
