A Purpose-Driven Resume
In the desperation of an intense job search, we lose sight of the true purpose of a resume. Job-hunters put so much time and energy into crafting a resume that it ends up resembling an autobiography, rather than a marketing tool. Instead of spending hours writing lengthy content about your personal motivation, spend your time targeting your resume to each job specifically.
It is better to spend more time marketing yourself by making the right phone calls and pro-actively going after an interview, than composing a spellbinding resume; especially when you consider that it’s the interview that leads to the offer–not the resume. Networking is the most effective tool in landing a job, with a purposeful and targeted resume being a close second.
