Oh, Behave

As a Creative Recruiter I am constantly in position of facilitating communication between creative candidates and ad agencies. From the get-go I am making promises for both agency and candidate and answering questions on both ends. I am responsible for honest, integrity and treating both with respect whether or not it is a good talent match.

However…

I can’t do my job if you don’t do yours.

I can’t provide the agency with enough information about you as a potential candidate if you fail to mention (even when asked) that you own two houses, your wife refuses to move or your daughter couldn’t possible leave her current ballet class for some other dance school in suburbia elsewhere.

I can’t expect a fantastic copywriter to ever trust me again, if my client, the agency, promises an interview and never gets around to scheduling, or repeatedly says “Who?” when I mention the candidate they used to rave about. I also can’t be honest with my candidates if you offer no significant feedback after an interview that fizzles into nothingness…

I read about how recruiters need to treat talent and employers with more respect.

I can’t do that if not given the tools to do my job, right?

Behave, please and we will all be much better off.

I will try and do better too. ;)

“… if you fail to mention (even when asked) that you own two houses, your wife refuses to move or your daughter couldn’t possible leave her current ballet class for some other dance school in suburbia elsewhere.”
