Patience takes practice.
It’s got to be the worst part about applying for jobs and sending your resume to different employers. The great thing about having a recruiter is that you are more likely to hear back about your resume then if you had sent it in blindly. Your recruiter hypes up this position and tells you all about the agency; you’ve already researched the hell out of the company and the location so you already know every hot spot within 10 miles. But you still have to wait. I know it sucks. Even I get impatient waiting for the feedback from an employer. Sometimes it’s instant and sometimes it can take weeks. Don’t jump to conclusions and think that the employer isn’t interested or that your recruiter is up to something. There are many factors that go into why it is taking so long. Sometimes your resume is being passed around to the team you will inevitable be working with along with your potential boss. Sometimes it takes everyone’s feedback to get you in there. The Media Director may be on vacation or in some cases the HR Manager is just so swamped with everything going on that he or she hasn’t gotten to it yet. No worries though, that’s why you have a recruiter to remind the HR Manager that they need to schedule a phone interview. I promise as your recruiter that I will let you know the moment I know something. Blowing up my inbox every couple of hours isn’t going to work. I’m going to tell you the same thing I told you yesterday. “I haven’t heard anything but when I do, so will you!” Job searches are tedious sometimes but patience is a virtue for a reason. It can be very rewarding when you’re hired!
